Creating a portrait is an honor & responsibility. Portraits shift narratives and become an opportunity for collaborating in ways that each person has decision making power over how they are portrayed. Sometimes DeCiccio paints historic or public figures but she prefers working 1:1 centering portraits as a tool for elevating community stories & counter narratives.
